The First Slice

This striking still life captures a moment of quiet indulgence and crisp, seasonal transition. A large, beautifully textured red apple sits center stage, its skin bursting with brilliant streaks of crimson, deep ruby, and sun-warmed yellow crown highlights. A tall, sturdy stem rises up, holding a pair of textured green leaves that frame the top of the composition.

Resting quietly beside it is a freshly cut wedge, its pale, crisp interior catching the light to show the delicate details of the core and seeds. Set against a split background of deep midnight charcoal and warm, golden ochre, the dramatic contrast makes the colors vividly pop. This painting brings an inviting, comforting, and rustic energy to a kitchen art ledge, a cozy dining room wall, or a small display shelf.
